Force (F = ma) has SI unit the newton (N = kg·m/s²) and dimensional formula [M L T⁻²].

From Newton's second law, force is the product of mass and acceleration: F = m a.

SI unit: mass is measured in kilograms (kg) and acceleration in metres per second squared (m/s²), so the SI unit of force is kg·m/s², which is given the special name newton (N). One newton is the force that gives a 1 kg mass an acceleration of 1 m/s².
