Why each entry is what it is

  1. Closing assets — every asset except cash/bank goes to the debit of Realisation at book value, so the asset accounts close.
  2. Closing liabilities — external liabilities move to the credit of Realisation.
  3. Sale of assets — cash in is debited to Bank, credited to Realisation.
  4. Fixed asset to a creditor in full settlement — the asset and the liability are both already inside Realisation, so no separate entry is needed.
  5. Expenses paid by a partner for the firm — a cost of realisation the firm owes the partner: Realisation Dr., Partner's Capital Cr.
