The Consumer Protection Act, 2019

The Consumer Protection Act, 2019 is the central law designed to protect and promote the interests of consumers. Its core purpose is to provide a mechanism for speedy and inexpensive redressal of consumer grievances. The Act applies to the whole of India and covers all types of businesses — whether a manufacturer or a trader, and whether the business supplies goods or provides services. Importantly, it also includes e-commerce firms within its scope.
