Fayol's Division of work means dividing work into specialised tasks to raise efficiency; Authority & Responsibility means the right to command must be balanced by, and go together with, the obligation to perform (parity of authority and responsibility).

(A) Division of work: According to Fayol, the whole work of an organisation should be divided into small tasks and assigned to specialists. When a person does the same specialised job repeatedly, skill, speed and accuracy improve and wastage falls. This principle applies to both managerial and technical work and is the basis of specialisation.
