Sucrose's Haworth structure shows a six-membered glucose ring and a five-membered fructose ring joined head-to-head through both anomeric carbons, which is why it has no free reducing group.

Sucrose is a disaccharide made of one unit of alpha-D-glucose (in its six-membered pyranose ring form) and one unit of beta-D-fructose (in its five-membered furanose ring form).

In the Haworth projection: the glucose unit is drawn as a hexagon (pyranose ring) with -CH2OH pointing up at C5, OH groups at C1 (down, alpha), C2 (down), C3 (up), C4 (down); the fructose unit is drawn as a pentagon (furanose ring) with a -CH2OH at C1 and C6.

The glycosidic bond forms between C1 of glucose (the anomeric carbon of glucose, alpha configuration) and C2 of fructose (the anomeric carbon of fructose, beta configuration) via a shared oxygen bridge: Glucose(C1)-O-(C2)Fructose.
