From the geometry of a concave mirror (similar triangles) one derives 1/v + 1/u = 1/f; and since f = R/2, a mirror of R = 10 cm has f = 5 cm.

Ray image formation concave mirror
Ray image formation concave mirror

a) Derivation of the mirror equation:

Ray diagram (described): A concave mirror with pole P, centre of curvature C, and principal focus F. An object AB stands on the principal axis beyond C. One ray from B parallel to the axis reflects through F; another through C returns along itself. They meet to form a real, inverted image A'B'. Drop the object distance u = PB, image distance v = PB', focal length f = PF.

Using sign-consistent geometry, triangles A'B'F and (the ray at the pole) are similar, and triangles ABF-type give:

A'B'/AB = B'F/PF (from one pair of similar triangles)

A'B'/AB = PB'/PB (from another pair, magnification)
