A browsing session serves us practically every data type there is — text, images, audio, video and animation (together, multimedia) — plus the structured data we type into forms.

The idea. "Data" on the Internet is far richer than plain text. Opening one news site or a video-streaming page pushes several distinct data types to your browser at once, each stored and transmitted in its own formats. Recognising these types matters because each is captured, stored and processed differently (and, as the chapter goes on to show, each sits differently on the structured/unstructured spectrum).
