Q.Rectify the following error, found before the Trial Balance was prepared: Goods purchased on credit from Geetha Traders for ₹4,000 were correctly entered in the Purchases Book but wrongly posted to Ganesh Traders' account instead of Geetha Traders' account.

A two-sided error is rectified through a completely ordinary journal entry between the two genuinely affected accounts, never involving the Suspense Account, since the Trial Balance was never disturbed by this kind of error. The entry is worked out by comparing what should have been recorded against what was actually recorded: a completely omitted transaction is entered now exactly as it should have been originally; a wrong-account error cancels the wrong account and records the correct one; an error of principle transfers the amount from the wrongly-treated account to the correct one.
