Q.State any three functions of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
The WTO performs several functions in pursuit of its objectives. It administers and implements the multilateral trade agreements negotiated by its member countries, ensuring commitments are honoured. It acts as a standing forum for trade negotiations, allowing members to negotiate further liberalisation and updated rules on an ongoing basis. It operates a dispute-settlement mechanism, through which member countries can bring trade disputes for examination and a binding ruling, rather than resorting to unilateral retaliation. It also monitors and reviews the trade policies of member countries periodically, and provides technical assistance and training to developing countries to help them participate effectively in the trading system. Any three of these may be stated in answer to this question.
Any three, e.g.: administering trade agreements; providing a forum for negotiations; operating the dispute-settlement mechanism.
