Partnership is defined by Section 4 of the Indian Partnership Act, 1932 as the relation between persons who agree to share the profits of a business carried on by all or any of them acting for all.

Definition of Partnership

In the TN HSC Class-11 Commerce syllabus, partnership is defined under Section 4 of the Indian Partnership Act, 1932:

"Partnership is the relation between persons who have agreed to share the profits of a business carried on by all or any of them acting for all."

  • The persons who enter into partnership are individually called partners and collectively a firm; the name under which they carry on business is the firm name.

Essential features contained in the definition:
