- Downward sloping (negative slope): to hold output constant, using less of one factor must be offset by using more of the other, so the two factors move in opposite directions along the curve.
- Convex to the origin: because of the diminishing Marginal Rate of Technical Substitution, progressively less of one factor can be given up for each additional unit of the other as one moves along the isoquant.
- A higher isoquant represents higher output: an isoquant farther from the origin uses more of one or both factors, and therefore always corresponds to a greater level of output than an isoquant closer to the origin. …
