Modern economists propounded the Law of (a) Variable Proportions.

Classical economists treated increasing returns, constant returns and diminishing returns as three separate laws. They therefore restated them as a single law, the Law of Variable Proportions, which shows output rising at an increasing rate, then a diminishing rate, and finally falling.
