Bacteria doubling every hour from an initial 30 is a GP with ratio 2; the count after kk hours is 3030 times 2k2^k.

Step 1. Set up the GP. Starting count (hour 0) =30=30; doubling each hour means ratio r=2r=2. Count after kk hours =30×2k=30\times2^k.
