Q.The choroid plexus secretes cerebrospinal fluid. List the function of it.

The hypothalamus houses both the feeding (hunger) centre and the satiety centre, which together regulate appetite.

The hypothalamus, located at the base of the forebrain (diencephalon), is the master regulator of many homeostatic functions including hunger, thirst, body temperature and circadian rhythms. Within it, the lateral hypothalamic area functions as the 'feeding centre' or 'hunger centre', driving the urge to eat, while the ventromedial nucleus of the hypothalamus functions as the 'satiety centre', which is activated once enough food has been consumed and suppresses further eating by inhibiting the feedi …

The hypothalamus acts as the body's thermostat, sensing blood temperature and coordinating responses (sweating, shivering, vasodilation/vasoconstriction) to keep body temperature constant.

The hypothalamus contains thermosensitive neurons that continuously monitor the temperature of circulating blood. When body temperature rises above the set point, the hypothalamus triggers heat-loss mechanisms such as sweating and vasodilation of skin blood vessels. When body temperature falls below the set point, it triggers heat-generating/heat-conserving mechanisms such as shivering (involuntary muscle contraction) and vasoconstriction of skin blood vessels.

The respiratory (rhythm) centre that generates the basic pattern of breathing is located in the medulla oblongata.

Different brain regions control different functions:

• The cerebellum coordinates voluntary movement, posture and balance, not respiration.
• The thalamus is a relay centre for sensory information.
• The hypothalamus regulates body temperature, hunger, thirst and links the nervous and endocrine systems. …

The hypothalamus, a small region at the base of the forebrain, houses the thermoregulatory centre that controls and maintains normal body temperature.

The hypothalamus is a vital coordinating centre of the brain that links the nervous system to the endocrine system (via the pituitary gland) and regulates many homeostatic activities. Among its functions, it contains a specific thermoregulatory centre that continuously monitors blood temperature and, together with peripheral thermoreceptors in the skin, triggers responses to keep body temperature constant — such as inducing sweating and vasodilation when the body is too warm, or shivering (increased muscular activity) and vasoconstriction when the body is too cold. The hypothalamus similarly regulates hunger, thirst, sleep-wake cycles, and emotional responses. In contrast, the medulla oblongata controls involuntary vital functions like heart rate, breathing rate, and reflexes such as coughing and sneezing; the cerebellum coordinates voluntar …
