Classification on the Basis of Use of Technology
This basis looks at where the entrepreneur's personal strength and attention lie — in the technical/production side of the business or in its marketing and distribution.
| Type | Meaning | Illustrative example |
|---|---|---|
| Technical Entrepreneur | Possesses technical or engineering knowledge and skill; concentrates on the quality, design, and continuous improvement of the product itself, often innovating through better production methods; tends to give lower priority to aggressive marketing | An engineer-turned-entrepreneur who keeps refining a machine's design and efficiency |
| Non-Technical (Business) Entrepreneur | May not have deep technical knowledge of production, but is skilled at developing marketing and distribution strategies, alternative sales channels, and customer relationships to sell the product | A person who partners with a technically skilled producer and focuses entirely on building the sales network and brand |
