Web Page

A web page is a document on the World Wide Web that you view inside a web browser. Every page you open — whether it shows text, images, or a video — is a web page. The basic structure of a web page is built using two core technologies: HTML (HyperText Markup Language) and CSS (Cascaded Style Sheet). HTML provides the skeleton and content, while CSS controls the appearance and layout.

A web page is usually part of a larger collection called a website. It can contain information in many different forms:

  • Text — arranged as paragraphs, lists, tables, and so on.
  • Images
  • Audio
  • Video
  • Software applications
  • Other interactive content

Beyond just displaying content, styling and formatting are applied to make the page attractive and well-organised. But a static page is not enough for modern use. To define how the page should behave when a user clicks a button, submits a form, or hovers over an element, scripts are used. Scripts are small program codes that make a web page interactive. The most popular scripting language for this purpose is JavaScript. However, Python and PHP are also used to add scripting to web pages.

The very first page you see when you visit a website is called the home page. It typically contains an overview of the site and links to all the related web pages. Every web page has a unique address, which is visible in the browser's address bar. To view a specific web page, you type its address into that bar. …
