Project II: Automating a Books Donation Camp
Project II: Automating a Books Donation Camp
The Bookworm club runs an annual Book Donation Camp built on the principle of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. They collect used books and notebooks, assess their condition, and turn them into resalable items or recycled products. The club wants a software system to store, retrieve, and visualise all camp data efficiently using Pandas. The system works with three main CSV files: one for collections, one for refurbished items, and one for orders.
Collections CSV — This file records every item brought to the camp. Its columns are: Item category, Item ID, Item name, Item type, and Condition.
- Item Category can be either Book or Notebook.
- Item ID follows a prefix rule. For a Book, the ID starts with the letter 'B'. For a Notebook, the ID starts with the letter 'N'.
- Item Type depends on the category. If the item is a Book, the type is either Academic or Non Academic. For an Academic book, the class (grade) must also be entered. If the item is a Notebook, the type can be Single line, Four Line, or Five Line.
- Condition can only be one of three values: Fit, Needs Mending, or Unfit.
Refurbished CSV — After items are processed, their details go into a second CSV file. Its columns are: Item id, Item name, Item Category, Quantity, and Price.
- Item Category here can be Paper bags, Notebook, or Books.
- For books, the class (grade) must also be entered.
Orders CSV — A third file stores customer orders. Its columns are: Item Category, Item name, Quantity, and Price.
When an order is placed, the refurbished CSV file must update its quantity to reflect the sale. …
