Removing Temporary Hardness
Temporary hardness is caused specifically by dissolved magnesium and calcium hydrogencarbonates. It can be removed in two ways.
1. Boiling. Heat converts the soluble bicarbonates into insoluble products, which can then simply be filtered out:
