Bridge Loans

A bridge loan, as the name suggests, is a loan taken to 'bridge' a temporary gap in funds. It is a short-term loan provided by a bank or financial institution to a company or individual who needs money immediately but is waiting for larger, long-term finance that has already been arranged but not yet received. For example, a company may take a bridge loan to begin a project while its sanctioned term loan is still being disbursed, or pending the money to be raised through a public issue of shares.
