Bonded Warehouses
In foreign trade (TS Inter 2nd-year Commerce; aligned with the NCERT/CBSE commerce curriculum), a bonded warehouse is a warehouse licensed by the customs authorities and generally located near a port or dock. Imported goods on which customs duty has not yet been paid are stored here under the control of the customs department. The importer need not pay the whole duty at once; the goods stay "in bond" until the duty is paid, and can be cleared in full or in part as and when required.
