International (foreign) trade is the buying and selling of goods and services between different countries. It is an important part of international business studied in TS Intermediate 2nd-year Commerce (the theme aligns with the NCERT/CBSE commerce curriculum). Its main benefits are given below.

Benefits of International Trade

  1. Specialisation and division of labour. Each country can concentrate on producing goods in which it has an advantage, raising efficiency and output.
  2. Availability of goods. Consumers get goods that are not produced in their own country, such as crude oil, machinery or special foods.
  3. Wider market. Producers can sell beyond the home market, which increases sales, encourages large-scale production and lowers cost.
  4. Earning of foreign exchange. Exports bring in foreign currency, which is used to pay for imports and to strengthen the economy.
