Tomography is an imaging technique in which a scanner (commonly using X-rays, as in a CT/CAT scan) rotates around the body and takes a series of readings from different angles through a particular plane (slice) of the body. A computer then reconstructs this data into a detailed two-dimensional image of that internal cross-section.
This resulting cross-sectional image is called a tomogram.
