Five of the six are self-employed; the construction worker is a hired wage labourer. So the odd one out is the construction worker.

Concept first

Workers can be grouped by their status of employment. Two broad groups are the self-employed (people who own and run their own economic activity and take its risks) and hired/wage workers (people who work for an employer in return for wages). Sorting the six persons by this status reveals the odd one out.
