a) No register anywhere records who sings or anchors well — the teacher must generate the data herself: primary data collection by observation/interview (an audition). b) Turn each judged skill into a numeric rating (e.g., 1–10), producing a structured 42 × 3 table whose row totals rank the candidates.

a) Which mode of data collection?

The skills in question — singing, writing, monitoring/anchoring — exist nowhere as ready-made records. So secondary data (using data someone else already collected) is impossible; the teacher must collect primary data, i.e., first-hand:

  • hold an audition/interview and directly observe each of the 42 students performing (sing a piece, write a sample script, conduct a mock segment);
  • optionally add a short survey of peers/teachers as a supplementary opinion.

Justification: observation of an actual performance measures the skill itself, not the student's claim about it — the most reliable data for a selection decision.

b) How to represent the skills as data?

A skill judged by observation becomes usable data when expressed on a rating scale. Give each student a score, say 1–10, for each of the three skills — producing a structured table:

  • Each row is one student; each column one skill — 42 rows × 3 skill columns of numeric (ordinal) data. …
