The angle between two vectors is found from cos⁡θ=a⃗⋅b⃗∣a⃗∣ ∣b⃗∣\cos\theta=\dfrac{\vec a\cdot\vec b}{|\vec a|\,|\vec b|}.

Given a⃗=i^+j^−k^\vec a=\hat i+\hat j-\hat k and b⃗=i^−j^+k^\vec b=\hat i-\hat j+\hat k:

a⃗⋅b⃗=(1)(1)+(1)(−1)+(−1)(1)=1−1−1=−1.\vec a\cdot\vec b=(1)(1)+(1)(-1)+(-1)(1)=1-1-1=-1.

∣a⃗∣=12+12+(−1)2=3,∣b⃗∣=12+(−1)2+12=3.|\vec a|=\sqrt{1^2+1^2+(-1)^2}=\sqrt3,\qquad |\vec b|=\sqrt{1^2+(-1)^2+1^2}=\sqrt3.
