(i) Power rating of a circuit component: it specifies the power (energy per unit time) that the component is designed to consume (or safely dissipate) when operated at its rated/marked voltage. For example, a bulb marked '100 W, 220 V' means that when a potential difference of 220 V is applied across it, it consumes electrical energy at the rate of 100 W. Operating it above its rated voltage/power can damage it (the actual power drawn at a different voltage V' would be P' = P(V'/V)², since P = V²/R and R is roughly fixed).
