Census Or Complete Enumeration
A survey that includes every element of the population is a Census or the Method of Complete Enumeration. To study the whole population of India, for example, an agency must obtain information from all households, rural and urban.
In India the Census is a house-to-house enquiry carried out every ten years, covering all households. Demographic data — birth and death rates, literacy, employment, life expectancy, and the size and composition of the population — are collected and published by the Registrar General of India.
