Find each computer's base clock speed in Task Manager → Performance → CPU, tabulate the class's values and compare — e.g. 2.40 GHz vs 2.10 GHz — remembering clock speed is cycles per second, not the whole performance story.

Step 1 — what you are measuring. The CPU's clock speed is the number of machine cycles it performs per second: 1 GHz = one billion cycles/second. It is the headline "speed" figure of a processor.

Step 2 — how each student finds it:

  • Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) → Performance tab → CPU → read Base speed.
  • Or Settings → System → About — the speed is printed after the processor name (e.g. "@ 2.40GHz").
  • Linux lab machines: lscpu in a terminal.

Step 3 — compare with peers. Collect the readings into a table. A worked example of what a comparison might look like (illustrative values — your class will record its own):
