Turner's Syndrome (45,X) is a female monosomy of the X chromosome; Klinefelter's Syndrome (47,XXY) is a male condition with an extra X chromosome — both cause sterility but differ in every other respect.

Three differences between Turner's Syndrome and Klinefelter's Syndrome:

  1. Karyotype/chromosome number: Turner's Syndrome individuals have 45 chromosomes with a single X chromosome and no second sex chromosome (45,X or XO — monosomy of X). Klinefelter's Syndrome individuals have 47 chromosomes with an additional X chromosome (47,XXY).

  2. Sex affected and body features: Turner's Syndrome affects females, and is characterised by short stature, a webbed neck, and underdeveloped (rudimentary/streak) ovaries with poorly developed secondary sexual characters. Klinefelter's Syndrome affects males, who typically show tall stature, feminised body features and gynaecomastia (development of breasts).
