The sample plan and table below show the shape your own survey can take — replace it with your real findings.
What the project tests
The project checks whether you can connect the chapter's list of support institutions — NABARD, RSBDC, NSIC, SIDBI, NCEUS, RWED, WASME, SFURTI, the DICs, and schemes such as the KVIC's assistance — to real units, by finding out which of them actually reached the small businesses in your area.
How to approach it
Identify about five small-scale units in your vicinity (they could be a food unit, a garment maker, a carpentry or metal workshop, a printing press, a handicraft/khadi unit, etc.). Meet each owner and ask a short, common set of questions so that the answers can be compared, then present them in a table.
Sample questions for each unit
- Name and type of unit, and product made.
- Is the unit registered as a micro or small enterprise?
- Did you receive any financial assistance (from a bank, SIDBI, NABARD, or a subsidy scheme)?
- Did you receive machinery on hire-purchase, raw materials or marketing help (for example from the NSIC or KVIC)?
- Did the District Industries Centre (DIC) help you with registration, feasibility reports, credit or training?
- Did you receive any training or skill-development support?
- In your opinion, was the assistance useful, and what more do you need?
