Charge interest on capital (A 5,000, B 4,000, C 3,000 = 12,000), A's salary 9,600 and 10% General Reserve 5,000 against the 50,000 Net Profit, then divide the remaining 23,400 among A, B and C in 4:3:2 (10,400 : 7,800 : 5,200).

This is a standard WBCHSE HS Class-12 Accountancy profit-appropriation problem. The firm's Net Profit is not shared directly — appropriations fixed by the deed come first.

Working notes

  • Interest on capital @10% p.a.: A 50,000 x 10% = 5,000; B 40,000 x 10% = 4,000; C 30,000 x 10% = 3,000; total 12,000.
  • A's salary = 800 x 12 = 9,600.
  • General Reserve = 10% of 50,000 = 5,000.
  • Profit available for distribution = 50,000 − 12,000 − 9,600 − 5,000 = 23,400.
  • Share of profit: A = 23,400 x 4/9 = 10,400; B = 23,400 x 3/9 = 7,800; C = 23,400 x 2/9 = 5,200.
