Manufacturing Enterprises under the MSMED Act, 2006
The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act was passed in 2006 to promote and develop small enterprises. Under the Act, enterprises are first divided into two classes — (a) manufacturing enterprises and (b) service enterprises. A manufacturing enterprise is an enterprise engaged in the manufacture or production of goods pertaining to any industry, or in the use of plant and machinery for adding value to a finished product. Such enterprises are classified on the basis of investment in plant and machinery as follows:
