A real gas behaves ideally at low pressure and high temperature, where molecular size and intermolecular forces are negligible.

An ideal gas is one that strictly obeys the gas equation PV = nRT at all pressures and temperatures. Its kinetic-theory model assumes that (i) the actual volume of the molecules is negligible compared with the volume of the container, and (ii) there are no intermolecular forces of attraction/repulsion.

A real gas does not satisfy these assumptions perfectly, because real molecules have a finite size and do exert intermolecular forces. However, a real gas approaches ideal behaviour under conditions where these two assumptions become nearly valid:
