Meaning of "10 volume": 1 litre of the H2O2 solution, on complete decomposition, liberates 10 litres of O2 gas measured at STP.

Step 1 — moles of O2 liberated per litre of solution:

n(O2)=10 L22.4 L mol−1=0.4464 moln(O_2) = \frac{10\ L}{22.4\ L\,mol^{-1}} = 0.4464\ mol

Step 2 — relate to moles of H2O2 using the decomposition equation:

2H2O2(aq)→2H2O(l)+O2(g)2H_2O_2(aq) \rightarrow 2H_2O(l) + O_2(g)

2 mol H2O2 gives 1 mol O2, so:

n(H2O2)=2×0.4464=0.8928 mol per litren(H_2O_2) = 2 \times 0.4464 = 0.8928\ mol\ per\ litre

Step 3 — convert to mass (strength in g/L):

Molar mass of H2O2 = 34 g/mol

Strength=0.8928×34≈30.36 g/LStrength = 0.8928 \times 34 \approx 30.36\ g/L …
