Q.Write the following in roster form:

(i) A={x:x is a whole number less than 5}A = \{x : x \text{ is a whole number less than } 5\}
(ii) B={x:x is an integer and −4<x≤6}B = \{x : x \text{ is an integer and } -4 < x \leq 6\}
(iii) C=C = The set of all letters of the word FOLLOW.
(iv) D={x:x is a two-digit number such that the sum of its digits is 6}D = \{x : x \text{ is a two-digit number such that the sum of its digits is } 6\}

Converting each set-builder description into its explicit roster (listed) form.

[!FORMULA] Roster form lists every element of the set exactly once, in any order.

  1. (i) A={x:x is a whole number less than 5}A=\{x : x \text{ is a whole number less than } 5\}. Whole numbers start at 0, so x=0,1,2,3,4x=0,1,2,3,4. A={0,1,2,3,4}A=\{0,1,2,3,4\}.

  2. (ii) B={x:x is an integer and −4<x≤6}B=\{x : x \text{ is an integer and } -4<x\le6\}. Integers strictly greater than −4-4 and up to 66: −3,−2,−1,0,1,2,3,4,5,6-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3,4,5,6. B={−3,−2,−1,0,1,2,3,4,5,6}B=\{-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3,4,5,6\}.

  3. (iii) C=C= letters of the word FOLLOW =F,O,L,L,O,W=F,O,L,L,O,W. Removing repeats: F,O,L,WF,O,L,W. C={F,O,L,W}C=\{F,O,L,W\}.
