Significance of the Title
The title The Address is apt and richly meaningful. On the surface, the "address" is simply Number 46, Marconi Street — the place the narrator's mother repeated to her ("Number 46. Remember that.") and the destination of her post-War journey. But the address stands for much more. It is the last link the narrator has to her lost mother and her former life, the place where all the family's precious belongings have ended up.
