Mica
Mica is a mineral prized for its unique physical property: it can be split into extremely thin, tough, and flexible sheets. This makes it indispensable in the electrical and electronic industries, where it is used as an insulator.
Major producing states of mica in India are Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Rajasthan. Other producing states include Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Madhya Pradesh.
- Jharkhand: High-quality mica is found in a belt about 150 km long and 22 km wide on the lower Hazaribagh plateau.
- Andhra Pradesh: The Nellore district produces the best quality mica in the state.
- Rajasthan: The mica belt here extends for about 320 km from Jaipur to Bhilwara and around Udaipur.
