Q.A company produces 'x' units in a year and the variable cost is V(x)=x2−2xV(x) = x^2 - 2x. Also, the company spends a fixed cost of Rs 15,000 on commissions and rent, then

(i) Find the total cost function C(x).
(ii) If 'p' the price per unit is given by p = 5 – x then find its revenue function.

Total cost = variable cost + fixed cost; revenue = price per unit ×\times number of units.

C(x)=V(x)+FC(x)=V(x)+F where V(x)V(x) is the variable cost and FF the fixed cost; R(x)=p⋅xR(x)=p\cdot x where pp is the price per unit.

(i) Total cost function:

  1. Given variable cost V(x)=x2−2xV(x)=x^2-2x and fixed cost F=₹15,000F=₹15{,}000.
  2. Add them: C(x)=V(x)+F=(x2−2x)+15000=x2−2x+15000.C(x)=V(x)+F=(x^2-2x)+15000=x^2-2x+15000. …
