The Author-Narrator (Asokamitran)
The narrator is Asokamitran himself, presented as a quiet, modest young man at the very bottom of the studio's ladder. His daily job was the dull, mechanical one of cutting out and filing newspaper clippings, a task others thought pointless — people who saw him tearing up newspapers day in and day out assumed he was doing next to nothing. Precisely because he was inconspicuous and lowly, however, he was able to watch everything and everyone around him, and he was in fact the most well-informed of all the members of the Gemini family. He comes across as a wry, gently humorous observer — self-effacing, patient and sharply perceptive — who records the vanities and oddities of studio life with amusement rather than malice.
