Directing principles: maximum contribution, harmony of objectives, unity of command, suitable leadership technique, and use of informal organisation/follow-up.

Five principles of directing:

  1. Maximum individual contribution — Directing should help each employee contribute his maximum to the organisation's goals.

  2. Harmony of objectives — It should bring the personal goals of employees and the goals of the organisation into harmony, so both are satisfied.

  4. Appropriate direction technique (leadership) — The manager should use the leadership, motivation and communication style best suited to employees and the situation.
