Unity of direction = one head and one plan for activities with the same objective.

Henri Fayol's principle of unity of direction states that all the activities of an organisation that are directed toward the same objective should be grouped together under one plan and placed under the charge of a single manager (head). Its slogan is 'one head and one plan'. For example, if a firm sells two product lines, all marketing activities for each line should have their own single plan and single head, so that there is no overlapping of effort, resources are used economically, and work moves smoothly toward the common objective.
