Closing stock = Rs. 5,000 (50% of 10,000 has no market value). Building = 46,000 + 4,000 legal = 50,000 (dep 2,500). Furniture dep = 300 (TB) + 300 (adjustment). New BDR = 5% of 31,000 = 1,550. Patent 1/3 written off = 900. Loan interest 12% x 10,000 x 9/12 = 900. Net profit Rs. 30,000 shared equally.

Working notes:

  • Purchase return Rs. 5,000 (Cr) and Sales return Rs. 7,500 (Dr) are taken by nature.
  • Provision for doubtful debts: Bad debts 1,500 + new BDR 1,550 - old BDR 2,000 = Rs. 1,050 (net charge to P&L). Bad debts recovered Rs. 1,250 is a separate income.
  • HDFC loan interest = 10,000 x 12% x 9/12 (1-7-2020 to 31-3-2021) = Rs. 900 (outstanding).
  • Legal charges to P&L = 6,500 - 4,000 (capitalised to building) = Rs. 2,500.
