Four properties: (1) discrete, parameters n,pn, p; (2) mean =np= np, variance =npq= npq, mean >> variance; (3) p.m.f. (nx)pxqn−x\binom{n}{x}p^x q^{n-x}; (4) skewness depends on pp.

GSEB Class-12 Statistics, Binomial Distribution — four properties:

  1. It is a discrete probability distribution based on nn independent Bernoulli trials, each with only two outcomes (success/failure) and a constant probability of success pp. Its parameters are nn and pp.

  2. Its mean is npnp and its variance is npqnpq (where q=1−pq = 1 - p). Since q<1q < 1, the variance is always less than the mean (npq<npnp q < np).

  3. Its probability mass function is:

    P(X=x)=(nx)pxqn−x,x=0,1,2,…,nP(X = x) = \binom{n}{x} p^x q^{n-x}, \quad x = 0, 1, 2, \dots, n
