A dipole in a uniform field experiences zero net force but a net torque, τ = pE sinθ, because the two equal and opposite forces act along different lines (forming a couple).

Consider a dipole with charges +q and −q separated by 2a (dipole moment p = q(2a)), placed in a uniform field E, with the dipole axis making angle θ with E.

Force on +q = qE, along E.

Force on −q = qE, opposite to E.

These are equal and opposite, so net force = 0. But since they act at different points, they form a couple.
