Triple fusion is the second fertilisation event in angiosperms - a sperm cell fuses with two polar nuclei to give a triploid nucleus that forms the nutritive endosperm tissue.

In angiosperms, fertilisation is a double fertilisation event, made possible because the pollen tube delivers two male gametes into the embryo sac. One male gamete fuses with the egg cell (syngamy) to form the diploid zygote, which develops into the embryo. The second male gamete fuses with the two polar nuclei present in the central cell; since three haploid nuclei (1 male gamete + 2 polar nuclei) are involved in this fusion, it is called triple fusion.
