[!TLDR]

A guided model for the four project tasks: (1) turn the trade-share table into a short trend report on India's rising place in world trade, (2) explain how trade builds peace and interdependence, (3) contrast ancient and modern export-import activity, and (4) link the 'Make in India' scheme to stronger internal and external trade. This is a project, so you must plug in your own latest data before submitting.

How to approach the project (own-work method). Since this is a research and discussion assignment, begin by collecting reliable, up-to-date figures on India's exports, imports and share in world trade for the years 2005-2017 (and later, if available), and keep a note of where each figure comes from. Then organise your findings task by task.

Task 1 — Trend report on India's position in world trade (2005-2017). Using Table 1 as your starting point, note that in 2018 India accounted for about 3.36% of global trade, placing it fifth among the ten economies listed, behind the United States (24.40%), China (16.10%), Japan (5.93%) and Germany (4.67%). For a proper trend report, gather year-by-year data across 2005-2017 and describe the direction of change: over this period India's total foreign trade and its share in world trade broadly rose, its services (invisible) exports such as software and business services grew strongly, and its overall trade balance stayed in deficit because imports (including crude oil) generally exceeded exports. Present this as a short written report supported by a simple table or line chart of India's share year by year, and end with a sentence on what the trend suggests about India's growing role in international business.

Task 2 — How trade promotes peace and harmony among nations. Explain in your own words that when countries trade, each specialises in what it produces best and depends on others for the rest, creating mutual economic interdependence. Because trading partners gain from a stable relationship, they have a strong incentive to settle disputes through negotiation rather than conflict. Trade also spreads goods, technology, ideas and cultural contact across borders, building understanding between peoples. In short, nations that are important customers and suppliers to one another are more likely to cooperate and maintain peaceful, harmonious ties. …
