[!TLDR]

Schematic: Glucose --(ATP consumed, hexokinase)--> Glucose-6-phosphate --> Fructose-6-phosphate --(ATP consumed)--> Fructose-1,6-bisphosphate --> splits into two 3-carbon triose phosphates (Dihydroxyacetone phosphate (DHAP) in equilibrium with Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate (G3P)) --> each G3P oxidised and phosphorylated to 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate (producing NADH) --> 3-phosphoglycerate (producing ATP) --> 2-phosphoglycerate --> Phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP, after loss of water) --> Pyruvate (producing ATP). Net yield per glucose molecule: 2 ATP (net), 2 NADH, and 2 molecules of pyruvate.
