For consecutive integers, the average is the middle number; list the five numbers around it and multiply the first and last.

For nn consecutive integers (nn odd), Average == Middle term. Difference of squares: (a−b)(a+b)=a2−b2(a-b)(a+b) = a^2-b^2.

  1. Since the 5 numbers are consecutive integers, their average equals the middle (3rd) number: middle term =125= 125.
  2. The five consecutive numbers are therefore 123,124,125,126,127123, 124, 125, 126, 127.
  3. The extreme (first and last) numbers are 123123 and 127127. …
