Either define enzymes with an example, or essential/non-essential amino acids with examples (attempt any one).

(i) Enzymes:

Enzymes are biological catalysts — almost all globular proteins — that catalyse specific biochemical reactions occurring in living organisms, increasing their rate enormously without themselves being consumed. They are highly specific for their substrate (the 'lock and key' model) and work efficiently under mild physiological conditions (body temperature, near-neutral pH).

Example: Amylase, present in saliva, catalyses the hydrolysis of starch into maltose. Another example: Pepsin, which hydrolyses proteins into peptides in the stomach.
