The photoelectric effect is evidence for the particle (photon) nature of light; interference, diffraction and polarisation are wave phenomena.

Interference, diffraction and polarisation can all be explained only on the basis of the wave theory of light — they arise from superposition, bending around obstacles, and the transverse nature of light waves respectively, and classical wave theory correctly predicts these effects.
